Preview: Hillsboro Trojans vs. Halstead Dragons
Hillsboro is 9-1 against Halstead since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Hillsboro Trojans will look to defend their home court against the Halstead Dragons at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Hillsboro didn't have too much trouble with Larned on the road as they won 52-36. Given Hillsboro's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while Larned is ranked 283rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, even though Council Grove scored an imposing 55 points on Thursday, Halstead still came out on top. Halstead snuck past Council Grove with a 61-55 victory. The win was just what Halstead needed coming off of a 64-30 loss in their prior matchup.
Hillsboro now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Halstead, their win bumped their record up to 5-11.
Everything came up roses for Hillsboro against Halstead in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 64-31 win. Does Hillsboro have another victory up their sleeve, or will Halstead turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
