Cocoa had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They managed a 30-24 win over the Merritt Island Mustangs on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for the Tigers, who have now won nine contests in a row dating back to last season.

Cocoa's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Troy Silberzahn led the charge by punching in two rushing scores, while also picking up 41 receiving yards and one score. Another rusher making a difference was Javeon Scott, who gained 118 total yards and a touchdown.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cocoa will host Mainland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Merritt Island, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Melbourne at 7:00 p.m.
