The Maiden Blue Devils will square off against the West Lincoln Rebels at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
West Lincoln will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Maiden extended their winning streak to four on Monday. The Blue Devils' pitcher stepped up to hand Lincolnton a 16-0 shutout. 16 seems to be a good number for the Blue Devils as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Raegan Rembert was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, Maiden let Maddy Clontz and Olivia Wray run wild. Clontz went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, while Wray went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Clontz has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ella Bryan, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Maiden was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, West Lincoln waltzed into their game on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against the Wolves as they made off with a 15-0 victory.
Danilyn Lewis made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Lewis was also big at the plate, earning two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, West Lincoln got a massive performance out of Kaylin Pardo, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Abree Sutton was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
West Lincoln's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-8. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Maiden, their win bumped their record up to 11-8.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Maiden hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314. However, it's not like West Lincoln struggles in that department as they've averaged .362. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Maiden couldn't quite get it done against West Lincoln when the teams last played back in March as they fell 11-7. Will the Blue Devils have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
