Football Recap: Newburyport Falls to Masconomet Regional in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Newburyport unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a blow against the Masconomet Regional Chieftains on Friday, falling 41-7. The Clippers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-0.

Bode Pessolano threw for 155 yards on eight of 15 attempts. Sawyer Alphonse was his top target, picking up 33 receiving yards.

Masconomet Regional found their leader in sophomore Owen Quinn, who picked up 158 receiving yards and two TDs.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newburyport will square off against Bedford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Masconomet Regional, they will head out to take on Billerica Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
