Baseball Recap: Northeast Triumphs

Northeast's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Clearwater Tornadoes an 8-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Tornadoes: they've now won nine in a row.

Cameron Hasson looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Northeast is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Luke Guzman was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Connor Mook, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Northeast's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Clearwater, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 6-3 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northeast will challenge Pinellas Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Northeast will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last. As for Clearwater, they will face off against Lakewood at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Clearwater is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.
