Recap: Odessa Bronchos vs. Midland Bulldogs
After a string of four wins, The Odessa Bronchos''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were dealt a 59-28 loss at the hands of Midland. Odessa has struggled against Midland recently, as their game on Friday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Ivan Carreon and Mikey Cota, Odessa certainly did their beston Friday to try and avoid the loss. Carreon picked up 133 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Cota threw for 271 yards and four touchdowns. Carreon is on a roll when it comes to receiving touchdowns, as he's now hauled in two or more in the last three games he's played.
Leading Midland to victory were Stroman Bridges and Elijah Mccoy. Bridges rushed for 99 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries, while Mccoy rushed for 195 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. Mccoy was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 60 yards. Anthony Kolb was another key contributor, rushing for 74 yards and a touchdown.
Odessa's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Midland, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Odessa will face off against Frenship at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Hudson Hutcheson and Cota. As for Midland, they will head out on the road to face off against Midland Legacy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Midland Legacy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
