Softball Recap: California Trojans vs. Jefferson-Morgan Rockets
California extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 24 on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-12. They lost 12-0 to the Jefferson-Morgan Rockets. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Trojans of the 10-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.
As for Jefferson-Morgan, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. Considering they have won eight contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
For Jefferson-Morgan's part, Gabriella Marmie made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Marmie a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addyson Teagarden, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025. Addalei Larkin was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Coming up, California will take on Frazier at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Jefferson-Morgan, they will face off against Carmichaels at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rockets 3.4, the Mighty Mikes 1.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
