Baseball Recap: Castle View Comes Up Short

Castle View blew Highlands Ranch out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Monday Highlands Ranch got their revenge. The Sabercats fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 5-3. The Sabercats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Gabriel Grandy was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Tyler Feldhake made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three runs and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Tommy Feldhake, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Castle View has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-4 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.67 runs. As for Highlands Ranch, their win bumped their record up to 7-8.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Castle View will take on rival Chaparral at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Sabercats 4, the Wolverines 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Highlands Ranch is set to square off against their familiar foe Rock Canyon at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
