The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Mustangs considering their one-run performance the game before.
Gunnar Thomas was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Thomas was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Brandon Newkirk and Jake Pacimeo did most of the damage at the plate: Newkirk got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs, while Pacimeo went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave Newkirk a new career-high. Riley Murphy was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Sunrise Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. They are 8-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Sunrise Mountain is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Kellis, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-17.
