Baseball Recap: Philip Simmons Victorious

Philip Simmons won the last time they faced Academic Magnet and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Iron Horses sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Raptors.

Max Stafford made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Stafford was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Pierce Johnson was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Blake Johnson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Philip Simmons' win bumped their record up to 18-5. As for Academic Magnet, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Philip Simmons will take on Hanahan at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Academic Magnet, they will challenge St. John's at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Islanders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Raptors' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
