Basketball Recap: Julia Burleson Key Part of a Team Effort in Cougars Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Robinson, Carson was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They skirted past the Mount Pleasant Tigers 47-44. This was a revenge game for the Cougars: when they faced off against the Tigers back in November, they had to take a 34-27 loss.

Carson got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Julia Burleson out in front who posted 19 points and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Burleson a new career-high in assists (two). Emma Carpenter was another key player, putting up ten points.

Carson's win bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Mount Pleasant, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.

Carson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 48-29 defeat against Salisbury on the 27th. As for Mount Pleasant, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 41-39 victory against North Rowan on the 27th.
