Baseball Recap: Bluejacket Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Copan, Bluejacket was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the Welch Wildcats. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-6 back in March.

Manny Pilkinton and Colton Cochran did most of the damage at the plate: Pilkinton scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Cochran scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Bluejacket is undefeated when Cochran posts two or more runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Clayton Moss was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Bluejacket always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Welch only posted an OBP of .391.

Bluejacket's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Welch, their defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-11.

Coincidentally, Bluejacket and Welch will both be playing Commerce the next time they take the field. The Wildcats will head out to face the Tigers at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Chieftains will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
