Cary is on a four-game streak of home losses, and Athens Drive a four-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Friday. The Cary Imps will welcome the Athens Drive Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. Athens Drive took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Cary, who comes in off a win.
Cary is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top against Knightdale on Wednesday by a score of 11-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Imps haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Avery Lin and Skylan Joyner made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Lin pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Joyner pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Lin posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. At the plate, Lin scored a run while going 1-for-2, while Joyner scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Gavin Mathis and Andrew Mohler did most of the damage at the plate: Mathis went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles, while Mohler scored a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Mohler a new career-high in doubles (two). Owen Green was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-5.
Cary was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Athens Drive came up short against Leesville Road on Thursday and fell 6-2.
Athens Drive saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anderson Hanes, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Austin Mantz also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Athens Drive's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Cary, their win bumped their record up to 4-9.
Cary beat Athens Drive 9-4 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Do the Imps have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jaguars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
