Softball Recap: San Elizario Triumphs

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Tuesday. San Elizario narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Canutillo 6-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for San Elizario.

Abigail Rios made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carylin Venegas, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Vivian Salcedo, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

San Elizario was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .379 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

San Elizario's victory bumped their record up to 5-15-1. As for Canutillo, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-8-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. San Elizario will host Riverside at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Canutillo, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Montwood at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
