Baseball Recap: Huntington Takes a Loss

Huntington came into this matchup off a tough six-run defeat on Monday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Unioto Shermans by a score of 8-6 on Wednesday. The Huntsmen were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Shermans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Huntington got a good showing from Gabe Beardsley, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Troy McDonald made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Matthew Jordan was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Huntington and nudges their season record down to 6-5. As for Unioto, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-5.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Huntington is set to square off against their familiar foe Westfall at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Unioto will face off against rival Paint Valley at 5:15 p.m. on Friday.
