Softball Recap: Timberland Drops Season-High Score on Philip Simmons

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Timberland). Everything went their way against the Philip Simmons Iron Horses on Tuesday as they made off with a 19-10 win. The victory continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Iron Horses: they've now won seven in a row.

Lainey Nichols looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Natalie Dukich was a standout: she scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Kaleigh White was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Timberland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .535. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in eight consecutive games.

Timberland's record now sits at 5-6. As for Philip Simmons, their defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Timberland will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Iron Horses: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
