Basketball Preview: Altamont Longhorns vs. Tabiona Tigers
The Altamont Longhorns will head out on the road to take on the Tabiona Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Altamont has struggled recently with 12 defeats in a row, while the Tigers will arrive with four straight victories.
Altamont might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 56-49 to the Wildcats, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Meanwhile, Tabiona was able to grind out a solid win over the Wildcats on Saturday, taking the game 55-43.
Tabiona's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gavin Rhoades led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Rhoades is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Logan Rhoades, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Altamont's loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Tabiona, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.
Altamont was dealt a bruising 77-29 loss at the hands of the Tigers in their previous matchup back in January. Can Altamont avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
