Baseball Recap: Cranford Takes a Loss

Cranford lost against Elizabeth back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Cougars took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Minutemen. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

John Fiore and Tyler Veltre did some serious damage despite the final result: Fiore went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double, while Veltre went 1-for-4 with one home run. That double was Fiore's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Tripodi, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Cranford's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Elizabeth, their victory bumped their record up to 18-6.

Coming up, Cranford will head out to face off against New Providence at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Elizabeth, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Colonia at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
