Baseball Recap: Odyssey Charter Comes Up Short

Odyssey Charter extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 7-9 in the process. They came up short against the Seaford Bluejays, falling 10-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Owls of the 12-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Seaford, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-10. They not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 26th (when they won 25-0).

For Seaford's part, Vince Evans III made a big impact no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Evans III has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with five stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Kalib Thompson and Ethan Cooper did most of the damage at the plate: Thompson went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple, while Cooper went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Thompson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luke Metzner, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Odyssey Charter has already played their next match, a 12-2 defeat against Mount Pleasant on the 10th. As for Seaford, they will face off against McKean at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
