Softball Recap: Penns Manor Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Penns Manor). They blew past the United Lions 15-1 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Comets, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.

Macey Pegg made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Pegg was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Joss Bennet was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Allie Rhea was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Penns Manor was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .591. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Penns Manor's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for United, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Penns Manor will take on Cambria Heights at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for United, they will challenge Blacklick Valley at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
