Softball Recap: Floyd Central Wins Going Away Against Shelby Valley

Floyd Central lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Shelby Valley, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's matchup. The Jaguars were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Wildcats on Thursday. The Jaguars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

Whitley Hall was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Hall was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted over her last nine games.

In other batting news, Floyd Central let Delilah Rodriguez and Cadyn Roberson run wild. Rodriguez went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Roberson went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs Rodriguez has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Aubree Shelton, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

The victory snapped Floyd Central's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 16-10 record. As for Shelby Valley, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-16.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Floyd Central will face off against Martin County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Shelby Valley, they will square off against Letcher County Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
