Recap: Foothill Knights vs. Yorba Linda Mustangs
If The Foothill Knights were riding high off their 55-0 takedown of the Brea Olinda Wildcats last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The matchup between Foothill and Yorba Linda wasn't particularly close, with Foothill falling 45-29. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Foothill in their matchups with Yorba Linda: they've now lost four in a row.
Foothill's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Nicholas Miali, who threw for 287 yards and four touchdowns while completing 72.4% of his passes.
Yorba Linda was led to victory by Holden Nagin and Chase Jones. Nagin threw for 233 yards and two touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes, while Jones rushed for 118 yards and four touchdowns. Troy Roberts was another key contributor, picking up 36 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Yorba Linda's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Leading the way was Joshua Grethen and his three sacks.
Foothill's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Yorba Linda, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.
Foothill will be playing in front of their home fans against Aquinas at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Aquinas is ranked 143rd, while Foothill is ranked 141st). Yorba Linda does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
