Softball Recap: Malden Beats Puxico for Their Third Straight Victory

Malden waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Puxico Indians a 10-0 shutout. The Green Wave might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matches by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Alyssa Broom, who gave up just three hits to keep Puxico off the board. Broom has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Carsyn Cohen, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Mariah Loya was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Malden pushed their record up to 26-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Puxico, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-12.

Looking ahead, Malden will venture away from home to take on East Prairie at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Puxico, they will challenge Woodland at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
