Indian Springs is 1-9 against San Gorgonio since May of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The COYOTES will look to defend their home field against the Spartans at 11:00 a.m. Indian Springs will be strutting in after a victory while San Gorgonio will be coming in after a loss.
Indian Springs is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top against Entrepreneur on Thursday by a score of 16-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The win was a breath of fresh air for the COYOTES as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.
Jerry Figueroa and Trevor Nadeau were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Figueroa pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Nadeau tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Figueroa has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Figueroa scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Nadeau went 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those runs marked the first that Nadeau scored this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob Garcia, who scored two runs while going 4-for-4. Those runs were his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gio Alonzo, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Indian Springs always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, San Gorgonio was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Eisenhower, falling 8-2.
San Gorgonio saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andy Contreras, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Another was Jordan Sanchez, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
San Gorgonio's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Indian Springs, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-10.
San Gorgonio's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Indian Springs hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. It's a different story for San Gorgonio, though, as they've only averaged .207. Will they be able to contain Indian Springs' hitters?
