Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Sarah Tompkins and Jaidyn Shelden Lead Eldon to Victory

Eldon waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Southern Boone Eagles by a score of 3-1. That's more bragging rights for the Mustangs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Eldon was especially dominant in the fourth set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 20-25, 25-21, 25-15.

Leading Eldon to victory were Jaidyn Shelden and Sarah Tompkins. Shelden had 26 digs and two aces, while Tompkins had 12 digs and one assist. Shelden is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last four games she's played.

They weren't the only good servers: Eldon was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. They are 6-1 when they serve at least ten aces.

Eldon's victory bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Southern Boone, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13-1 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matches. Eldon will take on Versailles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Southern Boone, they will head out to challenge Jefferson City at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
