Baseball Recap: Triton Comes Up Short

Triton extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping them down to 9-7. They came up short against the Gray's Creek Bears, falling 16-1. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2025.

Triton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Sewell, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Gray's Creek, they now have a winning record of 8-7. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Gray's Creek's side, Corey Cox made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). Gray's Creek is undefeated when Cox posts eight or more strikeouts, but 5-7 otherwise. Cox was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ellis Reed, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Gunner Sterling was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.

Triton didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 5-3 loss against Jack Britt on the 7th. As for Gray's Creek, they have also already played their next matchup, a 13-4 win against West Johnston on the 7th.
