Softball Recap: California Takes a Loss

California has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging 3.13 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They lost 14-4 to the South Hills Huskies. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Condors have suffered since April 6, 2024.

Shirley Acevedo made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Chavolla, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

California has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-9 record this season. As for South Hills, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6-1 record this season.

California has already played their next game, a 7-1 victory against Valley Christian on the 22nd. As for South Hills, they will square off against Los Altos at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Conquerors' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Huskies' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
