Diamond Ranch and Bonita pushed the score to 56-14 the last time they played Bonita, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, the Panthers made off with a 1-0 victory over the Bearcats. The win was all the more spectacular given the Panthers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 551st, while the Bearcats are ranked 142nd).

Isaiah Salinas threw for 30 yards on eight of 16 attempts. On the ground, Jalen Gallegos rushed for 103 yards.

Although Bonita took the loss, they still got scores from Jacob Maddox, Sebastian Vasquez, and Adam Hodgson.

Diamond Ranch has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 20 points this season. As for Bonita, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
