Volleyball Recap: Mercer Tigers vs. Prentice Buccaneers
Mercer and Prentice squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Mercer had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Prentice Buccaneers by a score of 3-2. The Tigers' defeat signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.
Mercer took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 25-22, 21-25, 23-25, 25-20, 16-14.
Mercer lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Alessia DelVitto, who had 11 digs. Another player making a difference was Anya Brandenburg, who had eight digs.
Even though they lost, Mercer was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in October of 2023.
Mercer's loss dropped their record down to 28-9. As for Prentice, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 23-12.
Mercer does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Prentice has already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran on the 2nd.
