Basketball Recap: Shore Regional Comes Up Short

If Shore Regional was riding high fresh off their 68-44 takedown of Toms River East last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Shore Regional Blue Devils came up short against the Hun Raiders on Friday, falling 52-32.

Loss or not, Shore Regional got some senior leadership from Reese Fiore and Kimi Sayson. Fiore posted 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Sayson put up 12 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Shore Regional smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive games dating back to last season.

It was another big night for Gabby D'Agostino, who had 22 points for Hun. D'Agostino has been hot, having posted 18 or more points the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of CeeJay Thomas, who posted 11 points.

Shore Regional's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Hun, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-2.

Shore Regional won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Long Branch at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday. As for Hun, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Life Center Academy at 12:00 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
