Softball Game Preview: Maywood CES Wolfpack vs. Torres Toros

For the second straight game, Maywood CES will face off against Torres. The Wolfpack will be playing in front of their home fans against the Toros at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Maywood CES has three straight victories, Torres has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

If Maywood CES beats Torres with 19 runs on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Wolfpack put the hurt on the Toros with a sharp 19-6 win on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Wolfpack, who have now won four games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Jane Ixcoy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Alyssa Juarez was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. Carmen Lilly was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Maywood CES always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .568 or higher in five consecutive matchups.

Maywood CES' victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Torres, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
