Maclay has gone a perfect 10-0 against St. John Paul II recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Maclay Marauders will look to defend their home field against the St. John Paul II Panthers at 4:00 p.m. Maclay is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Maclay was handed a ten-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over Blountstown.

Ben Wagnon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over 5.2 innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. That stolen base was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Henry Richardson, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-4. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of JR Thompson, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, St. John Paul II owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Monday. Everything went their way against Madison County as St. John Paul II made off with an 8-0 win. Considering the Panthers have won three contests by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Not much got past Max Helbling, who gave up just a hit to keep Madison County off the board. Helbling has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Evan Bopp was a standout: he scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Javi Santana was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
St. John Paul II was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Madison County only posted a batting average of .045.
St. John Paul II's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Maclay, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
Wednesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Maclay has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .453. However, it's not like St. John Paul II struggles in that department as they've averaged .439. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
