Basketball Preview: South Callaway Bulldogs vs. St. Elizabeth Hornets
South Callaway is 1-8 against the Hornets since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The South Callaway Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the St. Elizabeth Hornets at 8:30 p.m. South Callaway is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
South Callaway stacked a sixth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past Linn 53-27. South Callaway pushed the score to 38-16 by the end of the third, a deficit the Wildcats had little chance of recovering from.
Meanwhile, St. Elizabeth took a serious blow against the Comets on Friday, falling 72-42. While losing is never fun, St. Elizabeth can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 278th, while the Comets are ranked 26th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Gavin Williams, who scored six points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Kemna, who scored ten points.
South Callaway has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for St. Elizabeth, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.
South Callaway came up short against the Hornets when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 81-68. Thankfully for South Callaway, Jace Kesel (who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 11 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
