Baseball Recap: Calhoun Academy Find Success

Calhoun Academy won the last time they faced Holly Hill Academy and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Cavaliers walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Raiders. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cavaliers.

Colt Layton made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.

Layton wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Joseph Lyons, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. Asher Ficek was another, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Calhoun Academy's record now sits at 19-8. As for Holly Hill Academy, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-7.

Calhoun Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Raiders: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
