Baseball Game Preview: Berean Christian Eagles vs. International Jaguars

The Berean Christian Eagles will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the International Jaguars at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. International took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Berean Christian, who comes in off a win.

Berean Christian will bounce into Saturday's matchup after beating Athenian, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. Berean Christian's pitchers stepped up to hand Athenian an 11-0 shutout on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Ryder Walker and Joseph Angelo were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Walker pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Angelo didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. That's the first time Walker hasn't allowed a single hit since back in April of 2024. At bat, Walker scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Angelo scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs Walker has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Max McTighe was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Damon Neu was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, International lost 19-3 to Athenian on Tuesday.

International's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Berean Christian, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Berean Christian took their win against International in their previous matchup back in May of 2017 by a conclusive 10-2. Will Berean Christian repeat their success, or does International have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
