Baseball Recap: North Crowley Comes Up Short

North Crowley extended their losing streak to eight on Friday, dropping their season record down to 8-21 in the process. They came up short against the Crowley Eagles, falling 8-1. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Panthers couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Crowley, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-20 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games.

For Crowley's part, Keanu Rodriguez made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Rodriguez has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Gavin Toomer was excellent, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Eli Washington, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

As of now, neither North Crowley nor Crowley have any future games scheduled.
