Carthage put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 42-0 win over Jasper. Given Carthage's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while Jasper is ranked 440th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Carthage can attribute much of their success to Jett Surratt, who threw for 217 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.7% of his passes.

Carthage's run defense was locked in: Jasper could only muster 2.3 yards per carry. Carthage's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 3.6.

Carthage's record is now 4-0. As for Jasper, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Carthage didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 41-3 victory against San Benito on the 3rd. As for Jasper, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on West Orange-Stark at 7:30 p.m. on the 10th. This will be the Bulldogs' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
