Basketball Game Preview: Grapeland Sandies vs. Lovelady Lions

Grapeland hasn't had much luck against Lovelady recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Grapeland Sandies will host the Lovelady Lions at 4:30 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Grapeland ended up a good deal behind Leon and lost 57-43.

Meanwhile, Lovelady had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.8 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 60-26 win over the Indians. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 21 points or more this season.

Lovelady pushed their record up to 20-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 31.4 points. As for Grapeland, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 8-8.

Grapeland took a serious blow against Lovelady in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 80-30. Can Grapeland avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
