Basketball Recap: Northside Takes a Loss

Northside lost against Houston County two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Northside Eagles took a 58-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Houston County Bears. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 230th, while the Bears are ranked 37th).

Houston County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Malik Gillespie out in front who went 6 for 15 en route to 18 points and four steals. That's the most steals Gillespie has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Jackson, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 15 points and five boards.

Northside's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Houston County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.

Northside will be playing at home against Warner Robins at 5:30 p.m. on January 25th. As for Houston County, they are taking a road trip to face off against Veterans at 4:30 p.m. on January 25th. Houston County is coming into the game hot, having won their last nine games.
