Baseball Game Preview: Blazer Tomcats vs. Montgomery County Indians

The Blazer Tomcats will head out on the road to take on the Montgomery County Indians at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Blazer has given up an average of 8.1 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Blazer is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Boyd County on Thursday. They came up short against the Lions, falling 15-0. The Tomcats have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Montgomery County came into Friday's matchup having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Paintsville by a score of 7-2 on Friday. While the Indians didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

The team relied heavily on Jaimen Caba, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayse Mays, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Blazer's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Montgomery County, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8.

Blazer skirted past Montgomery County 5-3 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tomcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
