Baseball Recap: Byron-Bergen Find Success

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Byron-Bergen ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They skirted past the Attica Blue Devils 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bees have posted since April 10, 2024.

Martin McConnell was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Byron-Bergen is 6-1 when McConnell posts two or more runs, but 1-7 otherwise. Kyle Smith was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.

Byron-Bergen has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Attica, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Byron-Bergen will venture away from home to square off against Williamson at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. The last three games the Marauders have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Attica, they will head out to challenge Le Roy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Oatkan Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Blue Devils' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
