Sultana has gone 9-1 against Apple Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Sultans will head out on the road to face off against the Sun Devils at 3:15 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Thursday, Sultana got the win against Hesperia by a conclusive 13-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Sultans.
Isabel Avalos was a standout: she scored a run while going 2-for-2. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Camilla Casillas, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Sultana hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Apple Valley waltzed into their contest on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Burros with a sharp 17-5 win.
Apple Valley let Peyton Gaytan and Samantha Dollar run wild. Gaytan went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Dollar scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Khloe Beserra also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Apple Valley's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Sultana, their record now sits at 13-7.
Apple Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Sultana has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10 hits per game. It's a different story for Apple Valley, though, as they've been averaging 9.3 hits. Given Sultana's sizable advantage in that area, the Sun Devils will need to find a way to close that gap.
Sultana took their victory against Apple Valley in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 21-2 score. Will the Sultans repeat their success, or do the Sun Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
