Baseball Recap: Cate Wins Going Away Against Dunn

Cate hadn't done well against Dunn recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Cate blew past Dunn 9-3. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won three matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Peter Lehman made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI. He has become a key player for Cate: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 1-2 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Quinn Pullen, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. Cate is 2-1 when Pullen posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Noah Casbarro, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

The win got Cate back to even at 3-3. As for Dunn, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Looking ahead, Cate will host Santa Clara at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cate is facing Santa Clara at the right time seeing as Santa Clara is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Dunn, they will head out to take on Villanova Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
