Baseball Recap: Clayton Comes Up Short

Clayton had lost five straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 1-6 to make it six. They lost 12-2 to the Logan Longhorns. Having soared to a lofty 20 runs in the game before, the Yellowjackets couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Logan, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average this season.

For Logan's part, Mitchell Wall made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Wall a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, earning one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Wall is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hayden Bruhn, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aydin Kotara, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Clayton wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 20-0 victory against To'hajiilee on the 3rd. As for Logan, they have also already played their next contest, an 11-5 win against Non Varsity Opponent on the 3rd.
