Two dominant signal callers in Owen Mordas and Kise Flannery are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Bishop Feehan Shamrocks will face off against the Catholic Memorial Knights at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Bishop Feehan sitting on ten straight wins and Catholic Memorial on three.
Last Wednesday, Bishop Feehan got the win against Bishop Stang by a conclusive 34-13. Given the Shamrocks' advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts football rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Spartans are ranked 139th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bishop Feehan to victory, but perhaps none more so than Andrew Orphanos, who rushed for 79 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Orphanos also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing one fumble and making three total tackles. Brayden Nassaney was another key passer, throwing for 205 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 72.2% of his passes.
Meanwhile, Catholic Memorial has more to be thankful for after their game against Boston College High on Thursday. The Knights were the clear victors by a 48-27 margin over the Eagles. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won nine contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
Bishop Feehan better keep an eye on Ramar Thomas. He was instrumental in Catholic Memorial's win, picking up 166 receiving yards and two scores. Thomas showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 64 yards. Christian Simmons was in the mix as well, providing Catholic Memorial with two touchdowns.
Catholic Memorial was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 241 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 169 rushing yards in seven consecutive matchups.
One reason for the win was Catholic Memorial's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Mac Fitzgerald, Jaiden Johnson, and David Ramsdell, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Bishop Feehan's record is now 10-1. As for Catholic Memorial, their record now sits at 9-2.
