Softball Recap: South Florence Now 12-2 over Last 14 Games

South Florence was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Lakewood on Tuesday. The Bruins never let the Gators get on the board and left with a 16-0 win. The Bruins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Payton Perry made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

In other batting news, South Florence got a big performance out of Ryleigh Hux, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave Hux a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reagan Rowsey, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

South Florence has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Lakewood, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Florence will challenge Pee Dee Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Bruins surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lakewood, they will face off against Richland Northeast at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
