Softball Recap: Central Valley Falcons vs. West Valley Eagles

Central Valley extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 12-12 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the West Valley Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-3 back in April.

Joleen Short put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple.

In other batting news, Hazel Chavez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

As for West Valley, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-8. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.7 runs over those games.
