Preview: Springwood Wildcats vs. McIntosh Chiefs

The Springwood Wildcats and the McIntosh Chiefs will round out the year against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at. One thing working in Springwood's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.

Springwood has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 22 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Trinity Christian two weeks ago as Springwood made off with a 67-44 win. Given Springwood's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Trinity Christian is ranked 315th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Daniel Westbrook continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 31 points and ten steals. Those ten steals set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Micah Thomas, who scored 20 points along with five steals.

Meanwhile, McIntosh's game on Thursday was all tied up 21-21 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 64-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hardaway. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Springwood's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.8 points per game. As for McIntosh, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
