Basketball Recap: Silverdale Academy Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Silverdale Academy had won two straight games and Kinsley Owen did her part to make it three on Friday. The Silverdale Academy Seahawks couldn't have asked for a better start to 2025 than the 71-34 blowout they got against the Grace Baptist Academy Golden Eagles thanks in part to Owen, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 assists. Owen is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Another player making a difference was Ella Canter, who posted 16 points and six rebounds. Those six boards gave her a new career-high.

Silverdale Academy's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 10-8. As for Grace Baptist Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Silverdale Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 60-57 victory against King's Academy on the 4th. As for Grace Baptist Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Collegedale Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 13th.
