Baseball Recap: AuSable Valley Patriots vs. Peru Nighthawks

AuSable Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 14-1 to the Peru Nighthawks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to AuSable Valley of the 23-6 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.

AuSable Valley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Konnor Facteau, who went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

On Peru's side, Landen Duprey made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Duprey has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive pitching appearances. Duprey was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs.

AuSable Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Peru, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.

AuSable Valley will head out on the road to square off against Moriah at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Peru, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Saranac at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams will come into the game having just posted big wins, so someone is set to suffer a big change in fortunes.
